Flock creates projects that express the richness of our communities through a variety of creative activity.
We believe that the sharing of a creative process supports inclusivity and equity, contributes to good health and wellbeing, helps to build strong and resilient communities and results in a creative outcome that is fresh, unexpected and marvellous.
We know that everyone has creative talents and stories worth sharing.
ABOUT FLOCK
Flock Charitable Trust was created in 2017 with the goal of curating and managing arts programmes with social impact. We work with some of our most under-resourced and under-valued communities to create collaborative performance projects that are guided by the group members’ unique backgrounds, skills and experiences.
Flock works from a strength based kaupapa; our focus is on what people can do, rather than the opposite, and we believe that everyone in the room has skills and ability to share with each other.
Flock’s foundational project was The Hobson Street Theatre Company (HSTC), an award winning company created in partnership with the Auckland City Mission (ACM) who have been creating and touring since 2010 with those who have used the services of the ACM.
Flock also runs the Toroa project, working with the former refugee community to connect them with creative programmes in Tāmaki Makaurau, and Siblings, a new theatre work created with people who live with disability.
OUR VALUES
- Collaborate - reciprocal sharing and learning
- Amplify - a variety of voices are core to our work
- Explore - embracing new ways to be creative and experience the arts
- Care - our people come first
- Celebrate - acknowledge the journey
