Auspicious Victory
Irreverent, uncompromising and bold, Auspicious Victory’s art exists to provoke the comfortable and comfort those that struggle with the common world.
Auspicious Victory is a digital artist, futurist, and activist. Combining traditional and digital printmaking techniques and technologies, graphic design principles of colour theory, negative space, composition and typography, with digital painting, artificial intelligence, Liquid AI, machine learning and generative art.
Their experience of mental and chronic illness influences how they view time, and the legacy they want to leave behind. Auspicious Victory is an advocate for the empowerment and rights of artists to set their own terms.
Gender neutral and identity fluid, Auspicious Victory can be anyone, no-one or an everyday person. They don't care for your political leanings. Aside from their digital mask they remain anonymous, using this vacuum of identifiable features they create the space to ask profound and profane questions, speaking truth to power. Embracing absurdity to challenge mediocrity.
“I am a mountain. As a mountain I am rooted to the earth, I am grounded. The seasons change around me from warm summers to bitter winters and storms as such you’ve never seen. And yet I’m still here. I am ancient and cannot be moved by such things.” - AV
Auspicious Victory is informed by digital art, lines of code, and a background in traditional printmaking and graphic design. Born of the generation raised with PCs, in this incarnation they have investigated human rights as a journalist in China, Tibet and East Turkestan and dealt with the impacts of mental health and severe neurological chronic illnesses. It is this grit and intensity that makes them unable to take self-important power structures seriously, resulting in a raw and confronting approach to their artwork.
Learning by doing, challenging through questions, irreverent on demand: when the mask is on, nothing is off limits.
