Otago Museum is more than a museum.
Home to the biggest science centre in New Zealand, the only 3D planetarium in Australasia, eight free galleries with a collection of 1.5 million… and thousands of tropical butterflies in a three-level Tropical Forest.
There is a full programme of free events and programmes on all year for Otago inside our walls, from crafts, chemical explosions and storytellers for kids, to live music, public talks, and after dark parties for adults.
We educate of thousands of school children in free programmes annually, offer science outreach to New Zealand’s most remote rural communities, and ensure that cutting-edge scientific research happens in the south.
We bring block-buster, global exhibitions to Dunedin, and develop exhibits that win international design awards. We think Fashion Fwd >> Disruption through Design will be one of those exhibitions.
Come along, and find out why we are more than a museum.

Arts in the MediaJoshua Prendeville: Building an Audience on Boosted
Accomplished Filmmaker Joshua Prendeville first came to Boosted in order to help with funding his 2024 Film 'The House Within,' documenting the life and work of 2026 Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellow Dame Fiona Kidman. Since then he has gone on to direct an adaptation of Katherine Mansfield's 'The Garden Party,' that was also funded in part through Boosted. His latest project is 'Earthly Shadows,' a short film adaptation of the award-winning story by Fiona Kidman. For Joshua, Boosted has become a more than just a funding avenue, it's a way to bring his audience onboard at the start of a film's journey and bring that crowd along with him. Joshua was kind enough to share with us his experiences and lessons learned from growing his audience on Boosted, and how he aims to bring them on a journey with his latest project, 'Earthly Shadows.'18 May 2026
