Project Prima Volta
Project Prima Volta Trust operates the Project Prima Volta (PPV) programme – a community initiative that harnesses the creative and social power of singing to help teenagers find their voices. The organisation uses opera and performance as a tool to engage, empower and educate young people grappling with their identity and life’s many challenges.
Each year, 30 teenagers from entirely diverse backgrounds are accepted for a year-long programme of coaching and mentoring culminating in a variety of exciting performance opportunities. Training together for up to eight hours a week, the students work alongside international and homegrown industry professionals as well as local performers and volunteers. Along the way, the teenagers develop leadership, respect, trust, problem solving, self-reliance, teamwork, resilience and self-confidence.
