Grainstore Gallery
Kia ora, I am Donna Demente, a visual artist who has been running an art gallery in Oamaru's Historic Precinct since 2002. I mostly sell my own work there: paintings, masks sculpture, jewellery, ephemera cards and souvenirs, all made by hand mostly onsite! My passion project involves hosting live music in the airy and acoustically delicious space an old grain warehouse affords, and since our opening night 18 years ago (when we had the Clean play and officially open the gallery live on National radio) we have hosted many of NZs premiere musical artists of the folk/dreampop/alt country and classical genres that so suit the ambience of the space. Walls filled with faces and eyes (my specialty) create a wacky additional audience and a surreal backdrop to enhance the listening experience.
