Our Awarded Artists

Backing artists to make their mark

The Arts Foundation was established in 1998 to honour extraordinary New Zealand artists with awards that celebrate their achievement and enable their artistic practice. Since its inception the Foundation has gifted over $5,620,000 to 205 New Zealand artists and organisations.

Foundation awards include Icons, Laureates, the Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellowship, the Marti Friedlander Photographic Award, the Harriet Friedlander Residency, the Mallinson Rendel Illustrators Award, and the new Springboard for young artists, which will be gifted for the first time in 2020.
