APPLICATIONS OPEN 2024: Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellowship
The Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellowship allows a writer to spend no less than three months in Menton, France, with access to a writing room beneath the terrace of Villa Isola Bella, where Katherine Mansfield did some of her most important writing.
One of New Zealand’s most prestigious and long running Fellowships is now open for applications.
The Katherine Mansfield Menton Fellowship allows a writer to spend no less than three months in Menton, France, with access to a writing room beneath the terrace of Villa Isola Bella, where Katherine Mansfield did some of her most important writing. Applications open April 24th 2023, and close June 14th 2024.
The Fellowship has been offered annually from 1970. Previous recipients include Charlotte Grimshaw, Paula Morris, Carl Nixon, Kate Camp, Anna Jackson, Mandy Hager, Greg McGee, Justin Paton, Chris Price, Ken Duncum, Damien Wilkins, Jenny Pattrick, Stuart Hoar, Dame Fiona Kidman, Ian Wedde and other prestigious writers such as Bill Manhine, Janet Frame, Witi Ihimaera, Elizabeth Knox, Lloyd Jones, Roger Hall, Marilyn Duckworth, Michael King and Allen Curnow.
The Fellow receives a $43,000 grant to cover all costs including travel to Menton, insurance, living and accommodation costs. The grant is generated by a fund managed by the Arts Foundation of New Zealand, which was made possible by generous donors including many individuals, the Winn Manson Menton Trust, Creative New Zealand and the New Zealand France Friendship Fund.
The successful applicant will travel to France in 2025.
