The Project
Bad Egg is an 8-10 minute fine-dining psychological, and comedic short film. The story unfolds into a chaotic mental battle between chef vs. critic, with a simple egg being the catalyst. Our Boosted is aimed to raise money for our short film, where the funds would go towards supporting our actors and local restaurants used for filming, and of course - Eggs!
The Team
Introducing our crew:
The creative mind behind this chaotically amazing idea and our Director is Pepi Oliver-Bell. With an amazing eye for detail and a passion for psychological films, Pepi has worked so hard to bring this idea to life and continues doing so with the help of her amazing crew. Working closely alongside her is our Producer/1st AD, Sianna Palmeri, who has been working very hard to plan and organise everything to keep the project floating.
Our Director of Photography, Paige Gill, loves to think of the craziest rigs to make every shot as beautiful as it can be. She will stop at no means to get the best take. With the very unique look the film has going for itself, Paige has the best ideas to achieve the Directors visions.
The Key Crew from our amazing team:
Sound - Rheya McCowan
1st AC - Ruby Spencer
Gaffer - Thomas Harms
Lighting Assist - Brooke Yuile
Grip - Joel Va'ai
Editor/DIT - Kyan Cundy
The Funding
We are so excited to bring this story to life and with the help of you guys, we could!
This is an all-or-nothing campaign, so if we don't meet our target we unfortunately don't get the funds we need for the film.
We are primarily needing you help for the following:
- Locations, we are fortunate enough to have found a really great restaurant and kitchen to film in and we would love to be able to pay them for giving us the opportunity to use their space!
- Feeding our Crew and Cast, we have over 20 people in our cast and they'll need all the fuel they can get.
- Paying our wonderful actors for the amazing talent that they'll bring on screen.
- Transport for our cast, crew and equipment.
- Props, Set Dressing, and Costuming to make this film as realistic as possible.
and most importantly....
Eggs.... lots and lots of eggs. Our project will not be special if it didn't have the main attraction.
The Details
I’ve been Chef Leo. I’ve chased perfection. I’ve let criticism crawl under my skin and crack under pressure. Where everything feels like a test. This story? It’s personal. It’s anxiety, just with chef whites and a frying pan. We're making Bad Egg to creatively challenge conventional portrayals of professional kitchens and to show that something so simple, like an egg, can cause so much chaos. By leaning into surrealism and experimental visuals, the film aims to evoke an embodied sense of stress and alienation that many young people find themselves facing head on - but in a comedic yet psychological way.
The Impact
Bad Egg needs to be seen because it gives voice to the silent, internal struggles that many people face in high-pressure environments - especially young creatives, hospitality workers, and those navigating toxic hierarchies. We explore this in a fun way that not only entertains but also confronts, and unsettles. We’re asking our community to back this project because these are our stories - stories of stress, perfection, and cooking, told through a fresh, surreal lens. By supporting this film, you’re not just funding a creative work - you’re helping us crack open the shell of burnout culture with a weird, messy, emotionally-charged omelette of a film. You’re backing a team that’s tired of perfection and ready to make a glorious, slightly disturbing mess on screen. Think of it as therapy, but with more eggs and less talking.
