Promise & Zoe Roche & Akindeju
Hello! We're Lemon Time Studios, a Kiwi film start-up founded by two friends: Promise and Zoe. The first question we always get is, "How did you choose that name?" Well, that story pretty much sums us up.
Our ethos is simple: when life gives us lemons, we make short films. What began as a creative outlet and, at times, a way to cope with life's twists has evolved into a genuine passion.
We started our journey back in high school, creating shorts, documentaries, and skits for fun. Along the way, we’ve picked up a few media scholarships, dabbled in YouTube series, and even found our way into professional media gigs. But those are just stepping stones.
Now, we're ready to take things to the next level. Lemon Time Studios is our way of turning that passion into something bigger, and we'd love to have you along for the journey.

Lemon Time Studios's Live Project
They Call This Healing
‘They Call This Healing’ is an intimate, reflective slice-of-life short film that follows Faith – a woman in her mid-twenties who feels like her life has stalled. After a challenging couple years for her mental health, she drifts in a quiet limbo, burdened by the idea of who she should’ve become, aching for a way to feel like herself again. Particularly, Faith is heartsick that she isn’t yet the famed filmmaker she once swore she'd become, back when she was all wide eyes and boundless dreams, certain that wanting was enough. The story gently explores the ebbs and flows of healing – the way progress is rarely linear and how “okay” doesn’t arrive all at once. With a soft touch, the film acknowledges heavy themes without depicting them graphically, focusing instead on the subtle, everyday moments that shape us. The Film is about learning to let go, to move gently, and to believe that even the smallest steps forward still count.
