We asked 2012 Arts Foundation Laureate Gregory O’Brien if he would be so kind as to create a poem for us to share and start 2024 off proper. We hope this poem fills your cup as we kick into the New Year!
From the artist: "It's a meditation on the artist in the world (although recast as a bicyclist riding the length of Shelly Bay Rd). The bike ride described is one that I have done at least twice a week for the past four years. I am in love with that stretch of coastline (which the road hugs). The poem was also inspired by a painting Euan Macleod made of me on my bicycle in 2021 (looking back towards the city)."
