Welcome - Derek Handley - Chairman of Boosted — 18.03.13

We're thrilled to welcome entrepreneur Derek Handley as Chair of the Boosted Board of Trustees and as a member of the Arts Foundation's Board of Trustees

In 2001, with his brother Geoffrey, Derek co-founded mobile marketing and technology company The Hyperfactory, one of the first companies in the world that recognised the power of mobile devices for connecting consumers, brands and mass media. The company was listed by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the Top 100 Brightest Ideas of 2010 as well as Brandweek's 10 Biggest Ideas of 2008; in 2010 it was acquired by Meredith Corporation (NYSE:MDP). In 2011 Derek was named to the ‘Silicon Alley 100' of the most influential technology people in New York, one of 125 World Class New Zealanders and a Sir Peter Blake Leader. In previous years Derek was a New Zealand Herald Business Leader of the Year and Ernst & Young, Young Entrepreneur of the Year in New Zealand. For 2012 Derek has donated a year of his life to Sir Richard Branson to co-found and lead The B Team to accelerate a movement of global leaders working to catalyse business as a driving force for social, environmental and economic good. Derek is also Chairman of technology start-ups Snakk Media and Booktrack and on the youth Board of Opportunity International, one of the largest and oldest micro-finance organisations in the world.
