Gregory O'Brien, recipient of 2012 Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement — 27.11.12

Congratulations Gregory O'Brien, recipient of the Non-Fiction Prime Minister's Award for Literary Achievement - which comes with $60,000 - announced at Premier House, Wellington, on 26 November 2012

Gregory O'Brien received the non-fiction Award, Sam Hunt the poetry award and novelist Albert Wendt the fiction award.

Peter Simpson was announced as the Michael King Fellowship recipient.

The awards were established in 2003, and recognise writers who have made significant contributions to non-fiction, poetry and fiction. Past winners have included Janet Frame, Maurice Gee, Bill Manhire, Hone Tuwhare and Michael King.
