Arthur Meek writes for stage and screen, and has worked extensively as an actor.

Arthur Meek is a graduate of Toi Whakaari: The New Zealand Drama School and the University of Otago. Since graduating, he has written a steady stream of work for stage, screen and radio. He is the 2012 recipient of the Bruce Mason Award for playwrighting and, in the same year, he became the third recipient of the Harriet Friedlander New York Residency.

In 2011, his play On the Upside Down of the World was presented as part of the Auckland Theatre Company's mainbill, and continues to tour arts festivals throughout New Zealand. That year he was also the summer writer-in-residence at the Michael King Writers Centre where he worked on a play called The Good Times, the story of a group of friends who surf the social, political and economic upheavals of 1980s New Zealand.

Other plays include Sheep written for Long Cloud Youth Theatre (2011), Dark Stars (2011) which has been performed in New Zealand and Australia, Charles Darwin: Collapsing Creation (2009), On the Conditions and Possibilities of Helen Clark Taking Me as Her Young Lover (2008, co-written with Geoff Pinfield, based on the book by Richard Meros) and most recently, Richard Meros Salutes the Southern Man (2012), which is touring nationally.

Arthur was a founder of Billy-T award-nominated musical comedy band The Lonesome Buckwhips (2004-2010). He co-wrote and anchored the satirical newscast Feedback which ran on TV2 in 2010 and is currently developing a new comedy series with South Pacific Pictures.

Arthur has also co-written short films with John Ong. Being John Campbell (2002) won awards around the country, as did Laughtrack: The Benjamin Docker Story (2003).

His company Mozivision is dedicated to making site-specific stories for art galleries and heritage sites, designed to be viewed on mobile video devices. Most recently Mozivision has worked with The Buried Village: Te Wairoa, on a permanent display, and City Gallery Wellington on their Oceania Exhibition (2011).

As an actor Arthur has toured the major centres with Nicky Hagar's play The Hollow Men and played the lead role alongside Antonia Prebble in Auckland Theatre Company's 2009 production She Stoops to Conquer. He appears in guest roles on the television shows Nothing Trivial, The Almighty Johnsons, and Underbelly, and he played a recurring role in the most recent series of Go Girls.

Arthur took up his Harriet Friedlander New York Residency in 2013. While in New York he had Two plays performed in the United Solo Festival, New York: Upside Down of the World won best Costume Design (Kirsty Cameron) and Dark Stars won the Best Non-Fiction Script.
