Lloyd Jones is leading a campaign to build a library and cultural centre in Bougainville the setting for his award winning novel 'Mr Pip'.  Lloyd first visited this island province of Papua New Guinea in 1989, writing reports for Australian newspapers on the opening volleys of an internal conflict that was to become a 10-year vicious and bloody civil war.

You can help Lloyd Jones and the Trust (which includes Laureate Kate De Goldi) spear-heading the Bougainville library project, by visiting the site  launched by the  Minister for Arts, Culture and Heritage Chris Finlayson on Tuesday 30 March at a function in Wellington.

It has been reported that locals are taking a direct stake.  A walkathon  on the island kicked off fundraising.
