Two classic works of Janet Frame's (Icon) will be reissued in Germany this year to coincide with the status of New Zealand as special guest at Frankfurt.

Thanks to the initiative of German publisher C H Beck, two classic works of  Icon Janet Frame  will be reissued in Germany this year to coincide with the status of New Zealand as special guest at Frankfurt.  The first title to be released is a new translation of Janet Frame's first novel Owls Do Cry (1957).  The German title is Wenn Eulen Schrein  and will be released in Germany in February 2012.

The first edition of Wenn Eulen Schrein was published in 1961, and it was Janet Frame's very first foreign translation. Later in the year Beck will release a fresh edition of Janet Frame's autobiography, which has been as popular in Germany as it has been everywhere else.
