Arts Foundation honoured artists at the Auckland Arts Festival — 03.02.11

Laureates Witi Ihimaera, John Psathas, Douglas Wright and Neil Ieremia, and New Generation artist Kate Parker, all have work performed at the 2-20 March.2011 Auckland Arts Festival.

Events at the 2011 Auckland Arts Festival featuring Arts Foundation  honoured artists include:

Neil Ieremia - Who Are You?  created by Neil - the new instalment from Black Grace's UrbanYOUTHMovement.

Witi Ihimaera - reads from the lyrics he composed for Ihimaera, a special Festival concert to be performed at the Festival featuring 12 New Zealand recording artists performing songs inspired by his words.

Kate Parker -  Kate directs with Julie Nolan - Paper Sky - A Love Story.  Henry lives alone.  He reads poetry.  He writes poems.  Then he meets Lumina, who captures his thoughts like the pages of a book. 

John Psathas - New Zeibekiko, a major new work for orchestra  receives its world premiere in this year's Festival.Conducted by Hamish McKeich, the APO combines with two Greek traditional musicians on - Manos Achalinotopoulos (clarino and voice) and Vagelis Karypis (percussion, oud and voice).

Douglas Wright - rapt  a major new work from Douglas and a special Festival commission.  To be performed at The Civic, featuring some of New Zealand's finest international dancers.
